CEREC One Visit Crowns
Let’s face it – who has time to go to the dentist. Dr. Vagnozzi-Bucci understands how busy people and families are these days. That is why she is excited to offer patients the convenience of CEREC one visit crowns. CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology to allow the dentist to plan and create porcelain dental restorations in just one visit.
Now, you can have a dental crown or porcelain veneers in one day. CEREC uses high quality ceramic material. And the innovative software creates restorations that fit perfectly. CEREC is especially helpful for patients who have a dental emergency like a cracked tooth or broken crown. Dr. Vagnozzi-Bucci is able to see the patient and repair the tooth in the same visit.
DIAGNOdent – Dental Cavity Detection
A beautiful smile starts with a healthy mouth. Dental cavities are a problem that affect children as well as adults. The DIAGNOdent is a tool that aids the dentist in the detection of dental caries. The pen-like device can detect even the tiniest lesions, allowing the dentist to intercept tooth decay before it progresses.
VelScope – Oral Cancer Detection
We care … and we’ve gone the extra mile to prove it. The state-of-the-art device called the VELscope Oral Cancer Screening System is available in our office! Along with our conventional oral screening exam, which includes looking inside your mouth for any lesions that might be visible to the naked eye and feeling your neck for any suspicious bumps, we can use the VELscope to literally see beneath the surface to detect potentially dangerous growths we might have otherwise missed.
The exam takes about two minutes as part of a regular hygiene/recall visit, involves no pain or inconvenience, and is completely safe. We think you’ll appreciate the peace-of-mind this screening can provide; the additional cost for this exam is reasonable.
Oral cancer is one of the few types of cancer that haven’t experienced a significantly reduced mortality rate in the past 30 years. In fact, the number of North Americans developing oral cancer is three times the number who develop cervical cancer. Health care experts recommend annual oral cancer screenings for all adults aged 18 and older. If you smoke or use chewing tobacco, screenings are recommended every six months.
Digital Dental X-rays
Digital dental x-rays are considered a standard in modern dental care. Dental x-rays allow the dentist to identify signs of disease and distress that may not be possible through a routine visual examination. Our dentists can maintain a record of your teeth with digital x-rays and look for changes in your teeth which could indicate occlusal (bite) instability.
Digital dental x-rays are extremely safe, exposing the patient to 99% less radiation that previous technologies. They are also faster and more comfortable compared to traditional x-ray methods.
Intra Oral Imaging and Photography
In addition to digital x-rays, Dr. Vagnozzi-Bucci utilizes intra oral imaging and photography to aid in case planning. We’ve embraced digital technology to help us communicate on a level with patients that was never possible before. In addition to digital x-rays, Dr. Vagnozzi-Bucci utilizes intra oral imaging and photography to aid in case planning. Digital photographs provide us images to show patients areas with cracks, fractures, decay, etc.
Dental Sterilization and Infection Control
Comfort comes in many forms. Our sanitary standards create a worry-free environment that extends comfort even after your visit. Sterilization and the prevention of illness should be a concern of all dental offices. One of the prime sources of contamination can be water. Our self-contained water system creates 99.9% pure water for use in all treatment situations.
All instruments connected to the water system that touch patients are heat-sterilized after each patient’s use in our state of the art “Lisa” (hospital grade) autoclave. Items that are not heat-sterilized are disposed of and a new one is used for each patient.
Family and Spa Dentistry exceeds the safety and sterilization guidelines recommended by the American Dental Association, New Jersey State Board of Dentistry and OSHA. We constantly upgrade our infection control techniques by attending frequent courses and holding regular staff meetings so as to insure your safety and peace of mind. Some of the techniques we employ include:
- Wearing gloves, masks, and protective eyewear during each patient examination and treatment
- Sterilizing all instruments placed intra-orally in an autoclave or ultrasonic cleaner for germ free use
- Cleaning and sanitizing each exam room fixture regularly to eliminate bacteria and its development
- Consistently using a contracted sterilization monitoring service to ensure the effectiveness of equipment
- Utilizing safety techniques to prevent cross-contamination by properly disposing of all products that are unable to be sterilized
- Sterilization of all dental hand-pieces using Assistina- regarded as the ‘Rolls Royce’ in handpiece cleaning and maintenance systems
- Covering patient chairs, x-ray units, and light handles with disposable plastic wraps
- Using filtered water supplied to dental hand-pieces and air/water syringes
3-D CT Scan
The Sirona 3-D Orthophos SL provides high resolution imagery with low dose radiation for improved diagnostics and treatment planning. Our dentists can utilize these high quality computer images to more accurately plan placement of implants and other dental restorations.
The Sharp Layer (SL) technology takes your panoramic x-rays a step further and allows us to have a more comprehensive view of your unique anatomical structure. This is the key to making the right recommendation at the right time for treating a wide range of concerns.
