Dental Fillings Pennington NJ

A dental filling is a type of restoration used to protect teeth that have been affected by cavities or other trauma. When placed properly, a dental filling can stop a cavity from progressing and prevent future damage to the tooth. At our Pennington dental office, we use tooth colored materials to restore teeth to a natural look and function. Our dentists may either select tooth-colored resin or porcelain, depending on your condition.

Tooth Colored Dental Fillings

Patients no longer have to worry about unsightly and uncomfortable metal dental fillings. We use tooth colored materials for restorations that are highly esthetic and virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Compared to metal fillings, “white” dental fillings offer as good or better long term protection for teeth.

Composite Resin Dental Fillings

What is It?
Resin dental fillings are made from a biocompatible composite material available in a range of tooth colored shades.

Who Are They For?
Generally, resin dental fillings are used to restore teeth with cavities, minor chips, or other minor damage.

How Long Do They Last?
With proper care, resin dental fillings can be very long lasting. It is important to note that resin dental fillings are not permanent and may require some special care or maintenance.

About the Procedure
This procedure is also known as direct restoration because the composite material is applied directly to the tooth and sculpted into form. It is important to see a skilled cosmetic dentist for the most natural looking results that are indistinguishable from natural teeth. A resin dental filling can be placed in a single visit.

Porcelain Dental Fillings

What Is It?
Porcelain dental fillings add strength to teeth in a similar fashion as dental crowns. They are categorized as either dental inlays or dental onlays. An onlay covers the entire biting surface of the tooth, while an inlay is contained within the contours of the tooth.

Who Are They For?
Porcelain dental fillings are typically used for patients with more significant tooth decay or damage. Damage would not be extensive enough to warrant a dental crown.

How Long Do They Last?
Inlays and onlays are very long lasting. Like any type of dental restoration, routine care is needed to ensure optimal esthetics and function.

About the Procedure
While a resin dental filling is type of direct restoration, a porcelain dental filling is an indirect restoration. Porcelain dental fillings are typically fabricated in our office using innovative CEREC technology. Using CAD/CAM software, an inlay or onlay is created to fit the exact contours of your tooth. The restoration is then permanently bonded to the tooth using a special adhesive.

What To Do If You Have A Broken or Missing Dental Filling

If you have a broken dental filling or missing dental filling, contact our office as quickly as possible to schedule treatment. We reserve time in our dentists schedules to treat dental emergencies such as lost or broken dental fillings.

Your dental filling can be replaced easily. In most cases, there is no benefit to saving your old dental filling. Do not attempt to temporarily secure your dental filling with glue or other adhesive.

Continue to clean around the tooth until your visit, gently brushing inside the hole where the filling was lost. Over the counter pain relievers can help to alleviate any pain or sensitivity you may be experiencing.

  • You have been such a great support in the care for our mother over these years. I wanted to keep her pain free and you helped us with that. The last miraculous feat was the saving of that front tooth that broke. It made me smile because she hated that her teeth were discolored. She would have LOVED that shiny white tooth!! Thank you for that and, for contributing to alzheimer's research in her name.

  • I didn’t go to the dentist for a while because I had bad experiences. Then a friend referred me to the Spa Dentistry office. I usually see Dr. Silk. I have a lot of confidence in him and am very comfortable with everyone in the office now. The office is beautiful and comfortable. Everyone is friendly and professional and always makes you feel comfortable. I had two bridges done that have worked out great! I highly recommend the dental group to anyone because they are very personable and always make me feel comfortable.

  • Just a little note of thanks for taking the time to deal with my big baby! He is terrified of the dentist and you made it a bit less scary for him. The tender pampering you and your staff offer goes a long way! Thanks a million.

  • I have been a patient of Dr. Vagnozzi Bucci Spa Dental Practice since April 2002 and I’m extremely happy. I have dental insurance that I cannot use at the office however, I still choose to go there. The whole staff is superior in their technical abilities, attitude and professionalism. Every procedure I have had done there has exceeded my expectations. Painless dentistry at its finest. I can not use enough adjectives to describe and praise these doctors and professional staff. It’s not the dentistry you remember from your childhood; this is the dental practice of the future.

  • I just wanted to thank all of you for taking such good care of my aunt while she and my uncle were in the states from Australia. They were thrilled with her new teeth and told us you were amazing! I know medical/dental care is no where near as good in the U.K. or Australia as it is here, so I am glad if she had to have treatment, it was done by you. Thanks you again; I owe you one, but hope you don’t need any physical therapy anytime soon...
