Crooked TeethAn Overview
The most obvious concern with crooked teeth is the cosmetic appearance. However, crooked teeth can lead to more serious problems such as tooth decay, gum disease and TMJ related problems. There are a number of ways to fix crooked teeth and we offer both treatment with or without braces in our Pennington dental office.
Crooked teeth can make brushing and flossing a challenge, allowing food, debris and plaque to build up between teeth. Plaque build up can erode tooth enamel, leading to cavity formation. As plaque hardens, it turns into tartar which causes bleeding gums and contributes to gum disease.
I’ve been going to Dr. Vagnozzi since she opened her practice. Everyone is amazing! Dr. Vagnozzi takes her time and really pays attention to detail. I always feel like she is giving me the best advice!Phyllis C.
Just a little note of thanks for taking the time to deal with my big baby! He is terrified of the dentist and you made it a bit less scary for him. The tender pampering you and your staff offer goes a long way! Thanks a million.Kim and Ian
Prior to my involvement with Vagnozzi-Bucci and her associates, I had been experiencing multiple dental problems and enduring an uncomfortable fragile partial denture, which never completely matched my tooth color. Thus, I had been reluctant to smile. The dental work that was constructed for me is beautiful and natural, now…Cathy
Crooked Teeth What to Expect
Straighten Teeth Without Braces
Many adult patients want to avoid braces if possible. Traditional metal braces and even Invisalign braces can be cumbersome for adults, making it difficult to talk and speak. While braces may seem like the most obvious solution for straightening teeth, there are other ways to straighten teeth.
- Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are one option for straightening teeth without braces. Used to cover the front and sides of teeth, porcelain veneers can be used to correct minor problems in tooth alignment.Porcelain veneers can give your smile a symmetrical appearance by closing gaps between teeth and reshaping teeth to an even length.
- Dental Crowns
Dental crowns cover the entire tooth like a cap and are well suited for teeth that may have more significant alignment issues. For correcting crooked teeth, our dentists will use porcelain dental crowns which are highly esthetic and mimic the appearance of natural teeth. In many cases we are able to offer a single visit treatment for a dental crown. Using CEREC technology, our dentists are able to design, create and place high quality porcelain restorations in a single visit.
- Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding uses a bio-compatible dental composite, which applied directly to the tooth then sculpted into the desired shape to improve the shape and alignment of teeth. This treatment is a highly cost effective solution for correcting crooked teeth, though it is typically used for minor alignment issues. Unlike porcelain veneers and dental crowns, cosmetic bonding is not permanent and may need to be touched up in the future.
